Piper Reed - Navy Brat

Piper Reed: Navy Brat by Kimberly Willis Holt

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Piper and her family are moving again. Her father is in the Navy and they move A LOT. This time they are moving during the school year. She does not want to start school in the middle of the year because it's hard to meet friends. This is a fun early chapter book series for girls.

A to Z Mysteries

The Unwilling Umpire by Ron Roy

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Are you just beginning to read chapter books and want a good mystery? Try the "A to Z Mayteries" series. Three friends always seem to stumble into a good mystery and with the help of the adults in their lives, they always get the criminal. (This author has another mystery series set in Washington D.C. called "Capital Mysteries" so make sure to take a peek at those too.)

Nubs: A True Story of a Mutt, A Marine and a Miracle

Nubs: The True Story of a Mutt, a Marine & a Miracle by Brian Dennis

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I am a sucker for animal rescue stories and this one is fabulous! A stray dog in Iraq adopts a soldier and they are bonded for life. From the same author of Two Bobbies: A True story of Hurricane Katrina, Friendship, and Survival - another one of my favorites!
